Not even half as good as 2002 VersionAug 25, 2010 I have been using MS Flight Simulator 2002 for years and thought that it was about time to upgrade and see what 2010 X would bring to enhance the experience.
So it brings, less aircraft, less reality, less options, less cockpit views.
Needless to say I was VERY dissapointed. I am back to using and enjoying 2002 now.
What a complete waste of money.

Best Flight Simulator yetAug 17, 2010 The new Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition gives the user exacting control over many types of aircraft. I used to be a real pilot but because of medical problems I can never fly again because the pressure changes of altitude will kill me. The new Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition, in the high speed drive of my newest computer with an Athlon II X2 235e 2.7GHz Processor and 6GB Ram has given me back the ability to fly the aircraft I used to plus many others I always wanted to try. Coupled with The Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X which I purchased through Amazon.com when I bought The new Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition allows me to get back in the air with such reality that sometimes I forget I am sitting at a computer in my office. I also have Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 but as well as various other Microsoft Flight Simulator programs but The new Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition goes far beyond what they offer as far as regular flying and the aspect of planning cross country flights and filing flight plans.
If you are looking for realistic flight, The new Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition is what you are looking for.

Absolutely AwesomeAug 14, 2010 I'm using MS Flight Sim with a CH Yoke to practice cockpit procedures as I work through my pilot instrument rating. I'm only using the 172 in the Sim. I set it up to keep practicing in zero visibility, 5000 ft at GQE VOR NW of M01, the airport I normally fly out of.
The simulation of cross winds, VOR operation, compass acceleration - deceleration and turning errors, operation of the cockpit controls is faithful to what I see in the real airplane. I believe its saving me 100s of dollars to practice cognitive and interpretation skills before going out and spending big bucks flying them in a real airplane, when I'm much busier. It's been great for basic maneuvers, flying VOR radial intercepts, and holds.
I can't log the time, but it is better than sitting in an empty room using an imaginary airplane. The ability to review the ground track and altitude control afterwards is really helpful too. Of course it doesn't feel exactly like an airplane, it's my desk, and it drives me nuts the GPS always operates track up, but I just fly it, it's great. I operate dual screen, it's easy to set up a side window if I want, but I don't use for VFR at all. The scenery is off.
Flight Simulator X - GOLD EDITIONAug 03, 2010 First I want to say that I was pleased with the delivery. It has arrived on time and very well packed from Amazon, also Amazon always ships the product safely to ensure it from any damage.
The game: Flight Simulator X is one of the most popular games on the market. This game is extremely realistic and the gold edition comes with the Acceleration Expansion Pack.
This game offers realistic scenery and excellent graphics so you will feel that you are in a real cockpit, well everything about this game is realistic. If you are into piloting or just looking for a fun game this is what you are looking for and the price is a bargain.

I need help about this productAug 02, 2010 I have no experience with any type of video games or flying and the only time I tried a video simulator was tonight when I downloaded the trial version of Microsoft Flight Simulator X from there website.
I am opening a theme restaurant and want to buy the Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition.
I am looking for a realistic take off and landing from the pilots view while in the cockpit, preferably from MacArthur Airport, Islip, or Republic Airport, Farmingdale, Long Island, New York for a camera which will be on a screen above a stage. I tried the free trial version to St. Maarten but it was more like a children's video game. I also would like to capture passengers viewing out the window, one for a monitor on the left and one for a monitor on the right. That view could be from any location but I need clouds in the background to put on screens in a small facility for take off and landing. Would this be the right product for me or is there something else I should use to get the real feeling of taking off and landing? I remember when Jetblue first started flying there was a TV that was on the back of the seat in front of you, the camera was actually mounted in the captains cockpit and the passengers got to watch the take off and landing; that is what I am trying to get the feeling of. Seems to me like there are many knowledgeable people writing about this game. Any help would be appreciated to either make a decesion to purchase this or a recommendation of another product. Thanking anyone who responds in advance.
